DeafReach advocates for the rights of deaf individuals, raising awareness about deaf culture and the importance of inclusive policies in education and the workplace.

Community Engagement

We empower families and local leaders through workshops, sign language training, and community-based support programmes that build understanding and inclusion.

Research and Innovation

We research deaf education and employment to inform better practices, influence policy, and develop innovative tools and resources.

Partnerships and Fundraising

We build strong networks with donors, organisations, and individuals who share our mission of raising funds and sharing knowledge to sustain and grow our impact.

Getting a new lifeline as a single mother- the story of Beatrice Fuamb

Beatrice Fuambe (32) was born partially deaf. She comes from a family of 8 children (3 girls and 5 boys) from Unjuku Village, Nebbi District. Parents strived to take Beatrice to different hospitals in an attempt to correct her hearing problem, till they were told nothing more could be done. With a lot of struggle, she acquired basic education at Nyacara primary school in Nebbi District where she dropped out in P6.

Deaf-friendly Health Services at Arua Hospital

Arua Regional Referral Hospital is the biggest health facility in Westnile and provides services to patients from three countries: Uganda, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Due its strategic location in the main travel hub of Arua, it serves a population of up to 10,000 patients per day. It also offers specialised support for other districts like Moyo, Koboko, Yumbe
